Welcome to the Training Centre on the Protection of Critical Energy Networks
Guaranteeing the uninterrupted and proper functioning of critical energy networks is an increasingly vital security concern for all OSCE participating States. Electricity blackouts can have disastrous cascading effects on participating States, both in terms of the health and safety of their citizens as well as their economies. Due to an increased frequency of extreme weather conditions - including hurricanes, floods, and extreme temperature - the threat of electricity-blackouts is becoming ever more urging. This Virtual Competency and Training Centre on the Protection of Critical Energy Networks offers a series of learning modules to support energy security stakeholders from the public and private sector, academia and civil society in improving the resilience of critical energy networks from natural and man-made disasters.
Centre’s key objectives:
1. To enhance the capacity of energy stakeholders to prevent, identify and address risks posed to critical energy networks from natural and man-made disasters;
2. To build a culture of preparedness, informing and empowering individuals to obtain the skill set and take the necessary actions to increase threat resilience;
3. To improve co-ordination and information sharing between various energy security stakeholders at the national and international level.
