Are you interested in gender, gender equality or gender mainstreaming? Have you ever heard of these notions and want to know more about them? If you haven’t heard of these concepts, do not worry; they will be explained in the first section of this course.

Are you a police, border guard/police, customs, immigration official or the representative of other national agencies involved in border or migration related functions delivery (e.g. Phytosanitary, veterinary controls, migration health related issues, etc)?

In your agency, do you perform a supervisory role at a high or mid-level? Which branch of service do you represent? The operational (border control, customs control, green border surveillance, investigation, risk analysis, etc) or supportive branch (human resources department, material resources department (procurement, infrastructure, equipment, budget and finance department, training and education department, occupational health department, etc)?

Are you a trainer? Are you a gender advisor or a gender focal point?

If you have answered ‘yes’ to any of these questions, this course will definitely be relevant. The overall objective of this course is twofold:

  • To provide an online training tool for developing knowledge, skills and attitudes towards the implementation of gender mainstreaming principles for various levels of personnel in Border Security and Management (BSM) services;
  • To provide additional resources for BSM personnel involved in delivering training, advocating for and implementing gender mainstreaming in BSM.
